Why You Should Use Firefox OS
Like many people I have a love-hate relationship with Mozilla.
They get a lot wrong. Firefox has been struggling as a browser. Their Persona identity system has failed to take off. They’ve suffered through some very public mis-steps.
But, Mozilla is also trying great things. Mozilla is trying to push open source into places where no-one else is capable of taking it.
One example is mobile. Mozilla is making a huge bet on trying to create the first commercially viable open source phone (no, Android doesn’t really count because of the tight control exercised by Google).
Mozilla is building Firefox OS which allows you to build apps using only HTML, Javascript and CSS.
In this video, Jason Weathersby makes the case for Firefox OS. Why do we need it? How does it work? What benefits does it bring to developers? Watch and find out …
