The Intermediate Guide to Drupal 7

In this class, you’ll learn how to master fields, Views and Panels to create sophisticated Drupal sites.

This class follows immediately on from the beginner class and takes your Drupal skills to a higher level.

In the first three parts of the Drupal 7 Intermediate class, you’ll build a movie website. First you’ll learn how to add multiple types of information using fields:

  • Introduction to the Project
  • Adding the Poster
  • Adding the Parental Rating
  • Adding the Movie Length
  • Adding the Movie Genre
  • Adding the Release Date
  • Adding the Short Summary
  • Adding the Five-Star Rating
  • Adding the Watchlist
  • Adding the Trailer
  • Adding the Key People
  • Managing the Display

Then you’ll tackle Views, which is the most important module in Drupal. It will allow to display the information you’ve entered in useful and highly customized ways:

  • Introduction to Views
  • Populating our Site with the Devel Module
  • Create a Block View
  • Create a Page View
  • Create the IMDB Page View
  • Modify the IMDB Page View
  • Create the Actors Block View

In the third part of the class, you’ll learn how to layout your information using the Panels module:

  • Introduction to Panels
  • Creating a New Homepage
  • Redesigning an Existing Page or Node

About Instructor

Rod Martin

Rod holds two masters degrees and has been training people how to do "things" for over 25 years. Originally from Australia, he grew up in Canada and now resides just outside Cincinnati, Ohio. He has worked in both the non-profit and for-profit worlds, in small companies and large corporations. His extensive open source experience includes WordPress, Joomla and Drupal and he really knows how to help you get the most out of the system you chose. Rod plays ice hockey a couple of times a week and rides his Goldwing motorcycle pretty much everywhere he can.
