WordPress, Joomla and Drupal in the Mac App Store
Bitnami have long been creating desktop installs for WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.
This week they made those installs even easier for Mac users.
You can now download Bitnami apps from the Mac App Store and have WordPress, Joomla and Drupal running on your desktop in minutes.
Here’s how the new Bitnami apps work:
Installation
Browse the Mac App Store for the Bitnami Stack of your choice. Start the installation process.
The Bitnami Stack will now appears as in icon in your Launchpad area:
Click the Launchpad icon and the Bitnami dashboard will launch.
You will need to start the PHP and MySQL servers so click the “Manage Servers” link and start them both.
You can then go back to the dashboard and click Visit Application to start your new website.
Modifications
It’s worth noting that Bitnami isn’t always 100% up-to-date with the latest versions. It takes a while to package up and release each new distribution, a process probably not helped by the App Store’s approval processes.
Also, Bitnami does not use completely vanilla installations. WordPress has 8 extra plugins added:
Drupal has 8 modules added:
And Joomla has 6 languages:
Is this an app that facilitates local MAMP or WAMP development?
This is a very useful discussion to me and all of them for knowing about the WordPress, Joomla and Drupal in the Mac App Stor. I have liked this content for knowing more information. http://mygeekplanet.com/wpe…
